ViewSonic XG3240C Review (Is it Worth Buying?)

Introduction

First launched in 2018, the ViewSonic XG3240C gaming monitor got attention in recent months when an updated version of this model was released in 2019. Although it is still a confusing gaming monitor, we found perfect results at a comparatively affordable price.

While this gaming monitor is under $500, the features offered by this gaming monitor are at par with a high-end gaming monitor. Not only does it offer great value but also the best gaming features and durable gadgets. After using this gaming monitor, I am pretty sure you will never feel disappointed, even though you are already using famous brands like Samsung and LG.

What ViewSonic XG3240C is about?

In a price range under $500, you will get a decent 32-inch 1800R curve widescreen gaming monitor with a 1440p clear display. The premium quality VA panel offers a stunning 144Hz refresh rate as low as 3ms response time, which is highly adaptable and sufficient to run high-quality games. The AMD’s FreeSync technology and HDR10 offer additional gravity to your games, and you will be able to enjoy a seamless gaming experience.

As for as ports are concerned, the monitor is quite a luxury as it comes with a single DisplayPort, two HDMI, and five USB ports, not to mention its 6W dual speakers.

ViewSonic XG3240C Display

We have already mentioned that the ViewSonic XG3240C is a 32-inch gaming monitor. That is to say, the monitor is wide and heavy-duty, and it may occupy more than half-space of an average-sized gaming desk. (See the list of best gaming desks).

ViewSonic XG3240C gaming monitor back image

Bear in mind that it is a wide gaming monitor with 16:9, yet some of the newly released gaming monitors have already updated to a 21:9 Aspect ratio. This is actually not an issue for an average gamer, for those already using a monitor with a similar aspect ratio. But it will be a bit odd for the high-end gamers who are gadgets crazy and love to get the most advanced and updated gaming accessories. For the 21:9 aspect ratio and most advanced features, you may check MSI Optix MPG341CQR, Dell U3417W, and LG 29WK600-W.

Although the screen size is bigger than average-sized 27-inch gaming monitors and a bit smaller than much bigger giants like Acer Predator X34, it actually is an above-average gaming monitor in size.

The curved design feature is your personal preference. Most people who like the simple design find it unnecessary, but in my view, this is much improved. The reason is that you will be able to cover a lot of areas in less time. And in 3D movements in games, I found this feature much helpful to avoid many enemies from behind while playing RPG games, especially Resident Evil and Call of Duty: Black Ops 4.

Besides, the blue light filter, combined with a curved display, impressively helps in reducing eye strain to a large extent. It means you will not feel pain or irritation in your eyes even after a long gaming session. In my experience, I faced no such issue after 1.5 hours of gaming, though the widescreen helped me to move my eyes repetitively towards every corner of the screen.

Having kept all these things in mind, one thing should be clear; this gaming monitor is above average gaming monitor for medium gamers. For gamers who like to play high-resolution games and relax for a while, this is really a hidden gem. However, other gaming monitors like Dell UltraSharp U3415W, LG 29WK600, and Philips 328E9QJAB are comparatively affordable than ViewSonic XG3240-C.

Design and Interface

In the most important features of ViewSonic XG3240C, the design and panel are worth considering as this monitor is built with a Vertical Alignment (VA) panel. The VA monitors are actually ranked in between the TN and IPS display monitors, which means just good, neither best nor worst.

However, the good thing is that the VA designs can best be described as the ones with much better performance and contrast ratio than the competitor IPS panels.

The ViewSonic XG3240C supports HDR and 144hz refresh rates, giving the better color distribution as low as a 3ms response rate. However, the downside of this monitor is the presence of some blurring issues while playing high-graphics games like Overwatch and Hitman.

Sound Performance

In its first look, the speakers might look cheaper than high-end gaming monitors with dedicated speakers. The monitor comes with two 6W speakers. But don’t take these speakers lightly. Unlike high-end speakers, they may not produce extraordinary bass and sound; they, however, are sufficient to produce nice yet powerful sound without distortions.

If you have a small room and are not a real fan of bass, the built-in pair of speakers would be enough to fulfill your gaming appetite and somewhat music and video streaming requirements. If you really want dedicated speakers with full bass, you need to check some good speakers for gaming.

ViewSonic XG3240C Stand

Next the ViewSonic XG3240C stand is really durable, well-built, and swivel-adjustable. The stand also contains a hook for keeping headphones (like SteelSeries Arctic 7). However, one minor issue is in rotation. Due to the issues in comfortably adjusting the maximum height, the monitor may cause rotation and height adjustment problems. You can, however, reduce this headache by using the 100x100mm VESA monitor stand that comes with this gaming monitor.

Connectivity

While its connectivity is concerned, the monitor has built-in ports and accessories. It comes with 2 HDMI 2.0 ports, 2 USB 3.0 ports, 3 USB 2.0 ports, a 1.4 DisplayPort, and two audio jacks for mic and headphones. As already discussed, two built-in speakers are also included in it.

Gaming Performance

While talking about its gaming performance and image quality, the monitor is much better than its predecessors. The monitor gave good sharpness of images and videos. Meanwhile, it produced stable colors that though much better was expected from this device.

To be clear, we got balanced colors, perfect sharpness, and a much-improved contrast ratio. To put it end, the display was fine and clear in our average gaming experience.

Final Words

Finally, the ViewSonic XG3240C is a worth buying gaming monitor for a medium gamer who needs something extra with his new monitor. This is a mid-range monitor that offers an above-average display, superb color distribution, and excellent performance.

The downside we noticed is its inability to compete with its highest-rated high-end gaming monitor, which really is not an issue because of the price range. Still, the ViewSonic XG3240C gaming monitor has the potential and specifications to take your gaming experience to a higher level and adds beauty to your gaming accessories.

Reasons to Buy
  • Excellent resolution
  • Wide color gamut
  • Wide-angle monitor
  • Optimal refresh rate
Reasons to Avoid
  • The color distribution is not up to the mark
  • Unable to compete IPS display
